runners skills & inspiring them to reach their goal, to compete in the
Fort McMurray Marathon!

Tammy Slauenwhite

As a multi-sport coach, Tammy helps people begin and improve themselves in running, cycling, and triathlon. Her coaching has resulted in hundreds of people successfully completing recreational races and events for their own personal goals and sense of accomplishment. Her objective with the participants of the Fort McMurray Marathon is to ensure everyone crosses the finish line not only feeling accomplished, but also wanting to run more. In other words, she wants participants to have a positive self-satisfying experience that motivates them to keep running and make it a part of their everyday life. Tammy is also an athlete and has participated in numerous running, cycling, and triathlon races since 2006. Her biggest athletic accomplishment was completing the EPIC Dartmouth ironman triathlon in 2013, finishing first in her age group and qualifying for the 2014 Weihai ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships while raising over $7000 for PRO KIDS, a charity that helps kids get involved in sports, recreation, and culture. She is currently training for the Fort McMurray Half Marathon and Singletrack 6 mountain bike adventure race. Tammy is the owner of GO! Health & Fitness Lifestyle Coaching. She has been working in the health and fitness industry since 2000. She moved to Fort McMurray from Riverport, Nova Scotia in July 2016 and now operates her fitness business full-time.

the program

The idea of running in the Fort McMurray Marathon can be intimidating, but the Fit to Run training program is here to help. This 22-week program is designed to help you feel confident on Race Day and successfully complete your desired distance.

The Fit to Run training program features a group setting, providing you with the guidance, support and motivation of training with like-minded individuals and the opportunity to create fun memories. Our program is achievable for every runner, and focuses on improving your running technique and education resulting in faster speed and improved strength. You will learn everything you need to know to improve your results from progressive training and the importance of proper nutrition to running cadence and how to pace your run. 

Whether you are just starting out or want to achieve a PR on race day, the Fit to Run training program can provide you with the support and motivation you need to finish strong, whatever your level! 

Please note, while the program is free of charge for registrants in the Fort McMurray Marathon, there are limited spots are available.

 

Program Schedule

The Fit to Run Training Program will take place  Tuesday & Thursday starting April 17, 2018 until September 16, 2018 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
