giving runners of all ages & abilities the opportunity to
get active & have fun!
Every fall in Fort McMurray, Alberta, hundreds of runners come to MacDonald Island Park to participate in an annual community event known as the Inter Pipeline Fort McMurray Marathon.
Building on the continued success and tremendous support of the community, each year the Organizing Committee strives to provide a fantastic experience for participants, adding new and exciting runner experiences.
This day of outdoor fun & fitness will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026. Runners will have the opportunity to register for one of six race distances, including a full marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km), 10km, 5km, 3km and a Kid’s Fun Run. The day-long event festivities have something to offer all levels of runners and spectators, including music, food, prizes, family fun, partnership activations and much more!
This year, organizations can also register to Run For A Reason - a program that invites local, charity & non-profit organizations to fundraise through the event.
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo humbly acknowledges that the land on which we gather, play and connect is Treaty 8 Territory, the traditional lands of the Cree and Dene, and the unceded territory of the Métis.
